  • Finally, the waiter came to take their order  for  desserts; she took his time, of course. He only ordered black coffee for himself . After a time that seemed endless the waiter finally brought a huge ice cream  with whipped cream for his wife . He wondered  how long she would take to eat  that one!  Clearly  she  was not going to hurry. He suddenly heard an announcement yes, it was the bartender giving  a registration number ;   his registration number !  and  “please could the owner move his car  immediately ”  Bad  luck  all along  !  Had he been careful  when parking ; or not ? No use turning a deaf ear , they could take away  his car and then .. He had to go out ; find another place ;  fifteen minutes lost ! But  when he  arrived at his parking place  , the car was there  ok , but he saw no one. So he waited a couple of minutes and went back to the restaurant. Meanwhile the waiter had brought his coffee, it was lukewarm but never mind  !  he swallowed it. Suddenly , he saw his wife get up and complain  of  belly-ache, and  headache. She asked him “are you all right darling ? “ .No  he was not !  Not at all  ! he was feeling   ill himself ; very ill .His last vision was the hideous face of his wife  looking at him , a  sardonic smile on her lips
